Our story 📖

Accountants Therapy was born during TaxCalc’s must-see MTD update on 19th February 2025. Having attended a number of MTD webinars at this point, Robyn, our founder, was growing more and more frustrated hearing a repeatedly positive but detail-lacking rhetoric on the subject.

Our community

Not realising there were around 1,000 people looking on, Robyn called out to other attendees to get in touch if they’d like to discuss MTD from a practice point of view. Expecting maybe 5 people to message it was somewhat of a surprise when by the end of that day 77 people were chatting away on WhatsApp.

Quickly it became clear that this wasn’t just about MTD but also about having a space to connect, share challenges and support each other without judgement  👨‍⚖️ AND with a bit of humour 😁.

Our community grew very quickly and expanded from MTD discussion into a number of different topics (WhatsApp Groups Explained link) where members can chose which topics they’d like to join (social therapy is the best though).

A collaborative approach

We have a number of excellent links to professional bodies and software vendors which came from wanting a collaborative approach. This said, it is very important to us that we remain completely neutral with the ability to praise and criticise where constructive – i.e. free speech reigns, as long as it is not offensive! 🤬

But most importantly we are growing wherever members take us, looking for ways to build our community and give our members maximum value. Sometimes this means webinars with glitzy 🤩 special guests or in person events and sometimes this means a poll about which biscuit 🍪 is your favourite. In Accountants Therapy we are here as your support – both professionally and on a personal level.
